In the last U.S. census, there were over 31 million people between the ages of 50 to 59 years old. That number continues to grow making this the largest generation of people in mid life transition in the history of our planet. For the first time, the issues of 50 plus men and women are bringing great focus and attention to challenges and opportunities of the second half of life.
For many of us, there’s little time in your daily lives to spend on figuring out how to navigate through life after 50. Often you can spend more time focused on the money and “things” in life when there are actually greater things to look forward to as you move through your fifties. How do you start to develop a clearer vision?
The ups and downs of mid life crisis symptoms can often get you off track to the goals that are important. But that doesn’t mean that you can refocus on what’s important to you now. And it may not be work or getting that next promotion. Are you inspired by what you do? Are you feeling unmotivated? Do you wish you could find more time to spend with family and loved ones? Are you ready to figure make the rat-race into a more fulfilling life? More and more now, you may want to move towards a destiny that brings you – yes, that thing called “happiness.
How do I know about these questions? It’s because I have asked them of myself and that’s how I began my journey to create an amazing life after 50. To provide inspiration for others like me who view their fifties as the gateway to the better half of life, I am launching the 50 Plus Magazine here at Amazing Life After 50.com. This online ezine is a chance for me to share information that can be a regular resource for people over 50.
In 50 Plus Magazine, I will tell you about helpful mid life transition resources, share tips from my program for life coaching online and answer questions. What I hope you will find is that you are already equipped with experiences and talents that can make the rest of your life meaningful. Reading a 50 plus magazine will help you take inventory of what things really matter to you, what your values are, what you are good at, what your skills and attributes are, and what else is missing in your life.
What you read in 50 Plus Magazine will give you a new awareness so you can make more positive and clearer choices and decisions for yourself with better results and fewer regrets. Dealing with mid life crisis symptoms, career transition, aging parents, empty nest and the health challenges of getting older are tough. What’s easier: Working toward your goals in mid life alone through trial and error, or seeking the guidance and direction of someone who’s been there and done that?
The answer is obvious. When you seek the advice of someone who has been through it all before, you can then avoid the same mistakes and focus your time and energy on what truly works. That’s the power of a life coach for personal development.
Many 50 plus women and men face a myriad of concerns that get lumped together in what’s often called “mid life crisis symptoms”. These include:
- Job transitions and lack of opportunity in over 50 employment
- The desire for a new career or lifestyle
- Divorce or being suddenly single
- Work/life balance
- Retirement
- The empty nest with children leaving home
- Wanting to live your own agenda for a change
- Aging parents issues
- Wondering what’s coming next and
- How to get from where you are right now to where you want to be in this next phase of life.
Imagine yourself with a set plan and just the right advice. Life coaching online or with a coach in person may shave years off the time it would have taken you to reach your goals otherwise!
Here are the top 7 reasons why you need coaching for mid life:
- Builds confidence. You know you’re under the guidance of someone successful and that your goals are attainable.
- Guided plan. Sure, you can draft up a plan by yourself, but when you write out your plans with the help of a coach in your area or an online life coach, you know you’re getting a realistic plan that works! Your coach will know shortcuts and can help you stay accountable as well.
- Conflicts. Coaches can help you cope with current conflicts and tensions in your life. They can also give you tips on how to avoid similar situations in the future.
- Personal attention. Life coaching online allows you to get easy to access, affordable guidance so that you can follow your chosen path. If you run into struggles, your online life coach will be there to provide much needed support and suggestions.
- Dealing with challenges. Things will not always go according to plan. When you hit a snag, your coach can help you overcome the challenge and steer you back into the correct direction. You can feel comfortable knowing that you’re receiving expert guidance.
- Versatility. You can determine the exact benefits you would like to have from coaching for mid life. Do you want help with short-term goals or long-term goals? Perhaps you’d like both.
- Enthusiasm. Your coach likely has a great deal of enthusiasm for their work, which will naturally rub off on you. Sometimes it may be difficult to keep up your drive, but thankfully, inspiration is one of the main reasons why your online life coach is there.

Every 7 seconds someone turns 50 years old. Many of those new 50 plus women and men and those who are already over fifty are asking the question:
What’s next?
I was in that position not so long ago. After feeling lost for a while there, a friend told me about life coaching – a process that has transformed how I navigate through the second half of my life. But what exactly is life coaching? In a nutshell, life coaching helps you figure out how to get from where you are in life to where you want to be. You can work with a coach in person or even access life coaching online – an easier way to get the benefits of coaching. If you are ready to transition into next half of life with a game plan for success and happiness, an online life coach can help you get there.
Benefits of Transitions Life Coaching Online
The major benefit of life coaching online over working with a coach in person is that there are no geographic boundaries between you and you coach. This allows you to select a coach you connect well with even though that person may live thousands of miles away. Life coaching online also allows you access to your coach through email for quick “laser” coaching on issues that might come up.
Another advantage is that life coaching online is a way for you make an affordable investment in the process that will help you plan and achieve your goals. A life coach online doesn’t have to drive far to meet you; they work wherever they have an Internet connection. Connecting with a coach online allows you to have the maximum benefits of coaching with a lower financial investment.
Life coaching can help you make it through mid life crisis symptoms, career transitions, issues with aging parents and empty nest issues. So many of us after 50 face these challenges but don’t have a way to cope and move on. Working with an online life coach can make a difference for you. And having an affordable coaching option is valuable tool in these tough economic times when people at 50 plus need the benefits of life coaching more now than ever.
How to Find a Life Coach Online
It’s not difficult to locate a life coach online. Referrals from relatives or friends who have been in a coaching relationship are a good start. If you do not have friends or relatives who have used a life coach for personal development, then the next step is to actually do an online search. For those who want help getting through the ups and downs of mid life transitions, conduct a specific search for coaches who specialize in working with 50 plus women and men.
If a basic Internet search doesn’t lead you to a coach you feel comfortable with, then there are websites and forums that specifically deal with personal development and growth. You will be able to locate an online life coach through one of these resources.
What to look for in a Life Coach Online
When it comes to life coaching online, there are several important issues to consider. The first and most important is finding a coach who you “click” with and who understands the issues you are facing and has training and life experience that can support you. Ask yourself:
Can this coach help me get what I want out of this next phase of my life?
Also look at the features and benefits of the specific coaching program. Do you like what’s being offered? Is there an opportunity to have more traditional coaching if you decide you want that down the road? Does the life coach online offer other products and services that will help you? As you are looking for your coach, think about what you would like to achieve through coaching. Ultimately that’s the litmus test for a great experience with life coaching online.
As an online life coach and 50 plus woman, I have a mantra I live by – Mid life isn’t about finding yourself; it’s about creating yourself. Are you ready to get creating?
